Ubiquitous You

droplets of rain hitting my window
the sound of butterfly kisses
a rainbow in the sky
the way you always come by surprise

the little child who looked me in the eye
startling eyes that look like yours from your rearview mirror
music in the taxi cab i rode home
you once said it's your favorite song

the gentle breeze
the way you hold me
soft white rose petals
the feel of your touch on my trembling hands

lightning
i did not mean it. i swear, i did not mean it.
And thunder
your voice broke as you fell into violent sobs

the street sign around the corner
the place where i saw you last

the dampness of wet grass against my bare feet
loneliness
the night wind
your heart cannot be cold as ice.

the droplets of rain on my window
my tears fell too.
